Three 15 years old German pupils (Ferdinand Fuchs, Korbinian Weikl and Keke Xu) took part in a German research competition for pupils. This competition (Jugend forscht = youth researches, literally translated) is well established in Germany. It is organized in three levels (regional, country (in their case Bavaria), whole Germany), where you have to qualify from one level to the next.

For this competition they chose a mathematical topic: The determination, construction and classification of all 1023 heptacubes.
